KUWAIT: Highlighting bedoons' (stateless residents) plight in Kuwait, the Human Rights Watch (HRW) held a press conference in cooperation with the Central System to Resolve Illegal Residents Affairs (CSRIRA) at the Marina Hotel yesterday. Several bedoons flocked to the conference and interrupted the speakers, as a result of which organizers had to make hurried speeches.Priyanka Multiparty, a researcher in Middle East Affairs at Human Rights Watch commended the steps taken by the Kuwaiti government to resolve the problems, "The 11 newly facilities approved by the government to bedoons are a positive step. The demonstrations held by some bedoons last February coincide with the Arab uprising, attracted attention to this issue. The benefits proposed by the government are to solve the humanitarian situation these people face," she said.
