KUWAIT: A local journalist claimed yesterday that a recently launched news website is connected to groups that are reportedly involved with people from the Syrian regime. He has allegedly obtained documents to prove that the company that owns the website is managed by individuals who are members of the Syrian ruling party.Citizen Yousuf Al-Nassar filed a case with the attorney general claiming that the launch of Al-Balad news website is co-chaired by a Syrian businessman who has connections with the Syrian regime. In a statement carried by main local newspapers on Wednesday, the Kuwait United Company for Advertising, Publishing and Distribution (KUCAPD) strongly denied reports that the website is biased towards a certain regime, arguing that Al-Nassar launched the campaign because he was embittered that a pay raise request was rejected, alleging that it was the reason why he resigned as editor-in-chief.
