Kuwait govt discuss demographic structure, traffic

KUWAIT-- Cabinet members and officials from the higher council of planning and development discussed Sunday evening three major reports dealing with housing development, demographic structure and traffic congestions, and electricity and water consumption. Chairman of the housing and human development committee Saleh Al-Fadhel briefed officials how the government should address demographic irregularities, citing the declining number of Kuwaiti population compared to the influx of non-Kuwaitis into the country over the past years.Al-Fadhala noted that the majority of Kuwaitis were youth, a matter that would trigger more spending to help this spectrum thus ultimately increasing dependence on imported labor, Minister of State for cabinet affairs Ali Al-Rashed said after the meeting, chaired by His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah at Al-Sief Palace.Al-Fadhala, in his report, gave a number of proposals to address the demographic imbalance between the Kuwaitis and non-Kuwaitis, said Al-Rashed.
