GENEVA: Kuwaiti Health Minister Dr Helal Al-Sayer handed out the "Kuwait Prize for Research in Health Promotion" to both China's Health Education Institute and Chad's Society Development Association. In a speech at the World Health Organization (WHO), Al-Sayer said that "this prize reflects Kuwait's concern in developing and enhancing policies and programs concerned with promoting healthy lifestyles and preventing contagious diseases. He added that China's Health Education Institute offered many programs that helped eliminating literacy and played a major role in developing a stricter policy against tobacco trading as well as promoting non-smoking campaigns in public places. While, Chad's Society Development Association provided health care in the country and effectively participated in the government's efforts in training medical technicians and nursing staff.
