Kuwait: A Kuwait Airways (KAC) pilot arrested after his arrival at Kuwait International Airport (KIA) over suspected intoxication has insisted that he was innocent of the charges against him. Officials from KAC, Kuwait's national airline, have stressed that the pilot in question was not flying the plane which he arrived on but was a passenger, although some Kuwaiti media quoted passengers on the flight as stating that the pilot had sounded inebriated. The incident took place on Thursday when the pilot, who arrived on a flight from Dubai, was arrested after reportedly becoming involved in a violent altercation with customs officials after he refused to allow them to inspect his luggage, with customs officials stating that he was heavily intoxicated.
